High Rock Summer Reading 2020
Rising sixth graders will choose two books from the High Rock Summer Reading list. Students do not need to complete a formal written assignment about the books, but they need to come to school in September ready to participate in assignments and activities based on the books. Due to the nature of these assignments, at least one of the books should be fiction. Mrs. Vaccaro is working with the librarians from all the elementary schools to present the summer reading expectations to rising sixth graders.
PDF versions of the suggested reading list can be accessed below. The list is formatted three ways for ease of use.
- A list by genre so students can target their favorite genre or explore new ones.
- A list with book covers and summaries -- this should be browsed online as it is 32 pages with color images for each book.
- Shorter books. These are also on the full list but are rewritten here for students who need to build reading stamina.
Current High Rock Students: Refugee by Alan Gratz will be the One Book/One School read for Pollard. In addition, you will be expected to read at least one book of your choice. For more information, please see the Pollard Library's Summer Reading page.
